Fantasy story: need help. - Writers Forum

Hi, I am in the process of trying to write a fantasy story, but am unable to actually start writing, because I must research first, (things such as religion, currency, history, languages, etc), and I am having a bit of trouble. I am also having a bit of trouble thinking of new, original character names. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What really is encouraging to me is that just when I was at the brink of giving up on writing, I found a mentor / tutor / instructor who has helped me so much that I can never repay him.
