Just wanted to say a quick Hello to everyone, I have just discovered this site and think it's fantastic.

Writing poetry and lyrics are my passion, I would love to try and get my lyrics sold but am unsure how I would go about this! If anyone has any advise please let me know...

Tonasket???? Holy cats. I have a song with Tonasket in the lyrics. Spooky, huh?

Hawksle that is almost no market for lyrics. Hate to tell you. You best bet is probably finding a band that plays good but has really sucky lyrics (and is aware of the fact) and try to work with them.

It's tough to sell songs, but almost nobody sells lyrics.

First, welcome. Second, I don't know, but I know you can find buyers for your lyrics if they are good. There are songwriters. Also, you can get jobs contracted out by managers of certain artists to write their songs. So, for sure, there is a market for lyrics. I don't know how big, but you can start by copyrighting songs with a creative-commons...maybe deviantart.com (you can get free ones there, create an account, post your work on there, and you can get a free CC license there), then send out your lyrics to popular artists? If they like them, they may consider buying or using them with your permission. If one becomes sucessful, then you may have an opportunity to work for more. At any rate, make sure that the one that you send out is fantastic...first impressions are everything. Good luck to you!
