Hey!

I'm new to the site. I did a random search for writer forums, and this popped up. I've been wanting to get feedback for my writing from people other than my friends and parents. I seem to have a problem when writing stories where I get halfway through...then get sick of it and delete it. I don't know if that's just me being odd or what. Anyways, I hope this'll help me get my ideas out there, because I've been writing for a long time.

Let me be the first to welcome you to Writing Forums, Ultima Scorpio! I guess lots of writers have that problem ... it's called writer's block. But there are ways around it, so don't worry!

Welcome to the forum. I've experienced the same difficulty with my stories. Thank goodness for the computer because I now am able to place a junk story in a folder and set it aside. Later I can come back and capture a character, thought, or setting for a different story. That was much harder to do back in the days of the typewriter.

Hi and welcome,

Otto's got the right idea. Save all your unfinished stories. I also like to force an ending to a story - even if it is ridiculously premature. Later (sometimes months, and once a year and a half) I return to them and iron out all the plot holes and logical flaws. Above all else, don't delete the work. You'll regret it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow - blah blah blah.

Yeah, I tend to write the endings before I even start the story. I'm working on a rough outline right now on something I've been working on for about...a year now.

And here I was thinking writer's block was when you couldn't get any ideas, not when you got sick of a novel and deleted it, lol!
