Oh no, who invited this guy?

Hello, I am known as donteatpoop. I am new to the site and found the place through google by searching "writing forum", seems like an accurate search result.

I write screenplays mostly, starting in notebooks, then moving onto the computer, being edited countless times. Once the play is completed it sits in a pile to collect dust along with my other completed works. The irony is that I have a stack of copyright forms next to the pile of completed works, also collecting dust.

I like to think of myself as a pretty good writer, and I like to keep my art sharp through exercising. I find that I am often starting writing exercises on the other writing sites I frequent, and one of the cool things about this place is that you have a bunch of writing exercises which are seemingly common. I look forward to contributing and reading up on the "local" talent.

Hi, you found this place the same way I did.

Your username is very very good advice also.

You have certainly saved me from what would be considered an undesireable act! Eating poop, that is.

Welcome to the forum. Are you thinking of getting any of your screenplays published?

Glad I could help. It's a good thing I joined when I did, then.

I would love to. But... I have to actually fill out the forms for the copyrights. I'm not sure if I am just a procrastinator or if I am deathly afraid of rejection on something I have put so much work into. It's probably a mixture of both. I've recieved great reviews from everyone I let read it, but there's always that side of me that says "They're just saying that to spare my feelings."

Recently I've been working on interactive fiction as well because I feel that genre was poorly done the first time it came around. I have several interactive stories online, most unfinished.

VERY lucky you signed up.

Interactive? What does that mean exactly?

Its probably a mix of procrastination and fear - no wonder they're still sitting there. Pick the one you like the least ad send it in. At least then if its rejected you'll know you didn't like it as much either. Haha. Whatever you do, you have to get something sent in. You'll never know unless you try!

Remember Choose Your Own Adventure? Those were interactive. They were never properly geared towards mature readers, however. My goal is to prove that this can be done. I have several stories on infinite-story.com under the same username if you are interested in seeing what I am talking about.

I've been telling myself that for years. For now, it's an outlet for emotions.

Yes, I do have quite a few "Choose Your Own Adventure" books. And you're right, they were inherently for younger readers. Like the guy who turned into a gorilla-monster thing. Good times.

But they could have been so much more. The CYOA books were very emotionally detatched. When I write interactive fiction I try to make sure that the reader establishes an emotion bond. I want the reader completely engulfed in the story, which was next to impossable in the CYOA style books of old.

You are so right. And they even marketed it as "You" ie writing in the second person. (Wait, that's what its called, isn't it? Second person?)

I can't wait for this new trend to sweep the world. Emotional CYOA.
