Greetings from Richmond
Hello, all. My name is Byron. I love to write. Usually I write Science-Fiction (most of it is the so-called "hard" science-fiction), though I have been known to write a little bit of other things now and then. I always write short stories (novels seem a little intimidating to me...).
Okay, on to other non-writing aspects of my life. I am engaged. My fiancee is carrying my unborn daughter. The due date is Sept 19, and we are planning on getting married Dec 30. We have a lot of opposition to our relationship from both sides of the family, but mostly from my side. This has caused me a lot of stress, but I live through it.
I sometimes let religion creep into my stories, but usually not. My writing is one of the few areas of my life that religion mostly doesn't touch. I am Deist, meaning I believe in a god (whom I prefer to call "the Deity" rather than God), but reject Revelation (any message that supposedly comes from divine source(s) such as the Bible, Koran, Oral traditions, etc), basing my beliefs upon Reason instead of myth.
Well, that's all about me. Talk at you all later!!!

Welcome aboard Byron! I hope you find the forums to your liking, both in terms of the social aspects, and the help we can offer to your writing. Take a look around, and see what you think of our humble little site. If you run into any difficulties, feel free to ask. I'm always happy to offer a helping hand.

Hey Byron, sorry to hear that your family gives you a hard time; yet the people here will usually lift your spirits!
Post something for us to read!

I am working on a story right now set in a future where Earth has been destroyed and humans are enslaved, but a friendly sentient species gathers together an army from several of the slave races, and starts a war between the slave owning races.
I will post it when it is finished.
Peace,
Byron

Sounds cool. Is it a novel?

No, I don't do novels too well. The extended length of them intimidate me a bit...
Peace,
