Hello from the UK
Hi everyone.
I'm in the early throws of writing a science fiction novel. I suppose, like many writers, I have had a story rattling around in my head for a few years now, and it's just begging to be written. I'm completely new to writing, I don't carry any qualifications to speak of, I just know that it has to be done, or it will bug me for the rest of my days!
I ultimately would like to have it published, whether anyone would want to read it, i'm not at all sure. I think science fiction is generally in decline at the moment, whether that's because it's out of fashion, or no one wants to write it any more, I really don't know. I guess it maybe harder to publish than most genre's?? time will tell.
I'm hoping to pick up some tips from people on here, the forum looks good and it seems that some good constructive advice is being given.

I would love to stick some chapters on here, but I have only just got the outline finished. I had the original story in my head, I drafted it out and it just didn't work. I have these specific ideas that I wanted to use, but there was a lot of holes.
I have gone back and rewritten it, it's still the basic concept that I had in mind originally but it's now more of a story that I think that i would want to read myself.
The story is set in its own universe, on a planetary scale, based around a bounty hunter character (set up as a kind of anti-hero). There have been a spate of attacks on research stations, by an unknown killer. But the killer has made an error and their transport was destroyed, the killer evades capture using a shuttle, but bounty hunters are getting closer. The protagonist finds the killer first and is about to bring them in, when he discovers an assassin has been tracking him...............
The plot moves forward, it's quite action oriented with lots of exotic locations and characters. It has a few twists in the plot, but its your typical action/adventure story in a science fiction theme. Like I mentioned earlier, not sure if it's what people want to read, or whether I could aim it at a younger audience. It's not Arthur C Clark or Peter F Hamilton, but I'm hoping it will be fun in an Indiana Jones in space sort of way!
