Howdy
Hey all. My name is Katie, I'm sixteen years old, and I live in southeast Michigan. I've been writing ever since I could remember, which is not much because I think I have memory issues or something. Mostly right now I write a bit of fan-fiction and some original fiction (no poetry), but I'm not actually looking to get published quite yet—if at all. It's a hobby I share with few people. In my small circle of writer friends, it seems as if I'm the only one who can throw out an almost-decent piece without any planning at all. It helps when I'm writing alone, but most of my English teachers seem to hate me for never doing outlines.
My writing right now seems to focus on the stuff you wouldn’t expect from me—love lost, betrayal, hardship, that kinda thing. I also tend to get extremely lost in my characters... does anyone else do this? My style is usually very internal, but I haven’t mastered the concept of filling a hundred pages with two months of storyline. That’s mostly the area I want to work on: becoming long-winded without being redundant.
I'm an odd girl, very nearly a tomboy and not too ashamed to admit it. A lot of times I rant and lose people easily. I have a weird train of thought sometimes, and it makes it hard for people to befriend me. Honestly, you're looking at the text of a loner with a off-putting sense of humor. Other hobbies include: computer games (anything from shoot-‘em-ups to strategy games), music (no rap, blues, jazz...), and reading (mostly fantasy).

Welcome, Katie!
I love to write fantasy, and I almost never outline. I let my stories take me where they want me to and almost always come out with a decent piece. Granted once I start future plans begin to arrange themselves within my head.
Getting lost in my characters is a hobby of mine. I like exploring their minds and seeing how they cope. It really provides me with some good times.
Hope you like it here!

Welcome Katie, I have a mental disorder for getting to involved with characters and that sort of thing, so don't worry. God help me if I ever direct a film...

Me, too. What do you write for? I write for anime. (You did mean fan as in fanatic and not fantasy?)

:blows raspberry: ALL of mine did. Out of all the people I've asked about 90% of them don't think it's necessary, nor do they use them.
Just an odd thought, there's a post here you should visit. You sound like an interesting person I'm curious to know what your answer would be.
Gotta go!

What's an outline? Is that the little white chalky thing the police use in movies, but never have actually used in real life?
Welcome to the forums....this place is great.

Bambi-
I write for Charmed, mostly. If you want to be technical, the only real fanfic I do right now is with two of my really good friends, and even that's a spin-off of Charmed. I did a couple of ER fics, too, in my day.
I don't know many writers who really write seriously (by seriously I mean they don't try to improve themselves), so it really hampers the critism I get.
Thanks for the thread, I'll post there in a few minutes!
