I'm bad at introductions but...

I try. My name is Sarah but I go by Shade53 everywhere I go online. I've been writing for a very long time but only these last two years have I been actively trying to get published (with some small successes). I am an assistant editor for Lily . I run a monthly reading list, the Imaginary Word. I am a work-from-home mom and general crazy person. Outside of that, I don't really know what there is to say about myself.

I am here for the same reason I am anywhere - because it is here and there is the potential to meet other writers who understand the process and the drive and perhaps the obsession in ways nonwriters can't.

I suppose that's it.

Hello and welcome to the forums, Shade53!

I'm glad you stumbled upon our little corner of the net. WF is a great place to meet others who pour blood, sweat, and tears into their writing who are glad to meet others who do the same. You'll also find plenty of people here that are willing to help and many that would love to learn what you have to pass along to further their writing skills.

I hope you enjoy yourself here at WF, and if you need any help don't hesitate to ask any of the Mentors or Mods. See you aound the forums.

Hi there, Shade53, and welcome to the forums! Yes, it is always nice to meet other writers who understand the business. I've been writing all my life, but only became published three years ago. No I plan to become a publisher, too. Exciting, isn't it?

Hi Shad53,

Thanks for sharing the brief encapsulation of your life. Hope to chat with you more as time goes on.

I'm new to this forum too. I'm a writer that is trying to forge new venues for my writing. I love to write, love to joke, and delight in the talent of others. I'll check out your links.

Cheers,

Thanks for the welcome! I've found the internet to be a huge help (and a distraction) when it comes to my writing. Research is bountiful. People who 'get it' are found far more readily than is usually possible for a little shut in like me. So far, I'm enjoying touring the boards. It may take some time to get my footing here but I will eventually.

Again - thanks for the welcome

Maia: Thanks for the compliments about Lily! Wish I could say otherwise but none of the work there belongs to any of the editors. We made a decision very early on to keep our own work out of it, unless we do a special editor's issue someday. There is a lot of nepotism in the literary world - especially in ezines and it was something we, as a group, decided to avoid. My only fingerprints on Lily come in the decision process. I am always very proud to be associated with Lily.

So far - I've been having fun surfing around but I've not yet spoken up much. I'm sure this will change with time. At the moment, I seem to be using this place to stall. I should be working on the last 25k for Nano....
