Talking I'll bet you'd never guess, but I'm new here

Anyway, please excuse any gramatical or spelling mistakes in this post. When it comes to message boards, I've gotten really slack in making sure my grammar and spelling are correct.

Anyway, now that that disclaimer is out of the way, on to why I'm here. I absolutely love to write. I tried my hand at video game reviews, but it really didn't work out for me. Ended up feeling more like a chore than fun, so I gave up on that one. I just don't think I've found my niche yet. I haven't figured out what kind of writing I really want to do.

I do a lot of journal writing. Unfortunately, I got kinda slack for a while only writing down the highlights versus the highs, the lows, and everything in between. But, I'm trying to get better.

I got into Dungeons & Dragons recently because a friend of mine mentioned that he was starting up a Play By Email (PBEM) game, and I wanted to give it a shot. But, then it dawned on me...why not try to novelize the entire campaign from the view of my character? So, I started to look more into fiction writing. I am currently reading this book (when I get time), and unless I hear from you all that I shouldn't, I plan on taking one of their online classes w/in the next coupld of months.

I have a couple of short story ideas already in mind, and I'd like to get started writing. Unfortunately, I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder which keeps me down at times. If I ever have a bad day with it and take my medication, I'm pretty much useless for the rest of the night when it comes to doing anything constructive. That's a bummer, but it's something I'm trying to work with nonetheless.

Anyway, that's me in a quick few paragraphs. I'm here to have fun, possibly get some inspiration, get some advice, and hopefully to learn a few things while I'm at it. Oh yeah...forewarning...I am sarcastic and can get pretty crude, but I always do it in good fun. And, I always wait and feel out any message board before I show my true self.

Lookin forward to a lot of fun here!

Hey and welcome. That's certainly an indepth introduction. Well done. I hope you enjoy it on the boards. And the best way to get better at writing is to just write, so write whatever you want, good or bad, and post it here for constructive criticism.

Welcome to the fourm Flipside. I hope you like it here.

I use to think I had Social Anxiety Disorder, but I don't, those damn commercials made me think I had it, but I learned that I didn't have it. I hope you don't get addicted to them though, because a few years ago, the Paxil was apparantly extremely addictive.

Have you tried congnitve behavior therapy, for your GAD? I think that's the way to go, even though it will take some time, safer too and you don't have to rely on pills.

Sorry about the pill spiel.

Feel free to Pm a Mentor if you got any questions.

As far as Medications go I'm on Lexapro on a daily basis and Klonopin on an "as needed" basis when the anxiety problems kick in. And, yes, at the same time, I am going through cognative therapy for my GAD. I see my therapist about once every three weeks to once per month or so. So far, I haven't found either medication to be addictive at all. I try to make sure to stay on the Lexapro because it truly has helped...A LOT! I am a MUCH different person than I was when I started taking the meds...much MUCH better overall. And, I do continue to see my therapist on a regular basis.

So, I'm going at it from both angles. I volunteered to see a therapist simply because I knew I had a problem...something was SERIOUSLY wrong with me, and I needed some help. And, so far, it's been an incredible experience for me...an incredible change.

But, I do appreciate your concern
