Just me, good to be...

A short note to say Hey, hope all is relatively good this friday night, I'm
finally here...been wanting to join for some time now...I'm American Indian,
hope y'all like perspectives from a very different way of life...sometimes my Mama, whom was raised in Rocky Boy Mt., comes to visit, she crossed over in 2002.Normal for me, strange sometimes for others...yet diversity and difference can be quit interesting. I have a deep southern drawl and I use it, alot. I came here to learn, I'm a beginner and I welcome critique, I'm a mother, and true lover of all kinds of people, I'm educated in several fields,
I was a career student, I loved school, I regret i didn't take an interest in literature, but, I love to read everything, except the New York Times.
We'll get to know each other in the future, just happy to be a part of this forum...see y'all soon....LB

greetings, lb!... what is your tribe?... i lived with the hopi, but haven't met any indigenous folks from the deep south [that i'm aware of] thus far... how nice for you that your mom still 'visits'... have you any idea why?... was there something left undone in her life, or is she just staying close to her favorite daughter?... i 'felt' my beloved father's presence some years after he left us, at a time when i needed some backup and guidance, so can relate to your 'normal' experience...

what do you write?... i happen to be a lifelong nyt-fan, but i hope that won't get in the way of our becoming friends... i'm a tough critic, but only because i think that's necessary, if one is to truly help beginners... i'm sure you're gonna love the forum... there are lots of nice folks here... so, jump in and get your feet wet...

love and hugs, maia

the diversity here, and I don't have such tender feelings that I can't take
criticism...awe, part of learning and growing...I will check out the romance,
it's been awile since I've read, but, you've got my curiosity up...

thanks much...LB

Smile Maia...

Oops, I got to apologize for misspelling Nickie's name...

Maia, thanks to you too for the welcome...I come from the Chippewa-Cree
tribe in Rocky Boy, Montana...This is the only tribe of its kind, seriously.
The Cree tribe left the country around the turn of the century out of Mt.
They were starving and became nomadic following the food sources, any
way, not sure what year but, they were forced back to the US and merged
with Chippewa...My father found my mother during the Korean War, prior to
being shipped out...Daddy was from Mississippi, slowly my father moved us
south, he was nomadic himself, he followed work...I have been here in
Alabama since 1972...

About Mama, she visits often, I feel her presence, sometimes just in the
wind, Mother could make the wind blow on whimsy, she could move clouds
when no wind was present, she taught me that and told anyone could move
and wind if they concentrated and had faith that they could. She advised
"never play with the rain" it could get out of hand. My mother visits me, I
believe because, we became very close in her passing time, she and I had
not spoke for 15 yrs, she trusted only me of her 6 children, I stayed by her
side and cared for her needs, the others just wanted to party and spend
her money...I ask Mother to watch after my children, and she does.
Mama passed on Nov 19, 2002. Oh there is much I will convey about what
was normal for this Indian child, I have a son that is incredibly gifted, he
is 7yrs...For now I will go...Talk again soon...LB

what a moving story, lb!... i, too, have a 'gifted' child... my youngest of 6 daughters, last and best of my 7 kids... she's the 5th [at least] in a string of us sicilian-blooded women to have 'powers' beyond what is considered 'normal' and she just gave birth to her 2nd child, a daughter... so, there may now be at least 6 of us 'odd' ones in a direct line... if you want to trade true tales, drop me a line 'at home' any time you like...

meanwhile, enjoy yourself here on the forum...

love and hugs, maia
