Don't worry about that. When I was new I just post my writings here then edited them after. That way while im editing people can point out mistakes i didn't notice.

Yeah but I have fragile feelings and posting a piece of writing without going over it and having it ripped to pieces wouldn't make me happy.

Ask yourself this though.

What could others say about it that you havent already asked yourself. Would a critiqing of your paper be any different if you read your own thoughts aloud on it? There may be things there that you felt you did wrong only because a stories best and worse reader is its creator. A second or third opinion may be what sways you from making a mediocre story to a great story one that you can be satisfied with.

Erudite: True. That's why just writing something and posting it doesn't suit me. I usually read and re-read and edit for a while before presenting my work.

Mada: Oh well. There are always more rookies to burn.

LOL i see you want it at its very best before it gets takin down to its absolute worse. I like to call the Parent theory. You baby your story and work it into something that you think will be presentable. So that when it is finally presented your feelings on your story will be spared more than the story itself. No one likes to here things about there stories so a buffer zone needs to be established.

You can write and write and edit and edit but there will always be mistakes. There will always be things to improve on. Its a matter of letting go, jumping into the deep end, ripping off that bandaid and letting it just take what it can as it is so that it will be better off after the experience alot faster and better than 10 or 20 self edits.

Haha I suppose you're right. And if I adhere to your parent theory, then I guess what I'm doing is keeping my kid chained up in the basement. Alright. I'll let him loose then.

I dont know how many stories I've been through that have been massacred on a review by my college professor but with each story I got back that was one less mistake was to make in the future. A mind has to be tuned just like a body.

Very true. So I'll just re-read this piece one more time to make sure and then I'll consider maybe thinking about posting it.
