Old, but new...

Hello,

I am new to this group, an "old timer" to life, but "young-at-heart".

I am a recent widow with nine children and 16 grandchildren.... just learning who I am really. If I figure it out, I'll let you know.

I have been "collecting information" and want to write a book. I have been writing books that I never intended to publish for several years, but now have a plan for a book about a naive young man going to prison for commiting a violent crime. He was on meth and was being coerced to commit the crime. It begins with his first phone call to his mother telling her he was in jail and continues through the trial, to prison and the amazing events of his coming back to himself after being off drugs while in prison, his growth and change. It is a true story that I hope will help families to have hope and cope with similar circumstances.

I have only read a couple of posts from this group... and my previous experiences have not been good with writers' groups... so hoping this one is a good meld.

I am anxious to get to know you and see what you are writing.

My ID is Char, but I usually go by

"cc"

Welcome char/CC/cc--do you prefer capitals or lower case? Sounds like you have a lot of life experience--something very useful for a writer. Your story sounds intriguing--is it a didactic work or more of a "get-you-in-his-skin" type piece?

Hi. I'm also old, but new. I only have one grandchild so you are way ahead of me there.
So far I have seen good things on this forum.

welcome, cc!... you're 2 kids up on my paltry 7, but i'm 1 ahead of of you in the grandkiddle department, with the birth of my youngest daughter's little girl, just 3 weeks ago...

your book sounds like it will take a lot of research, to be able to write believably about the seamy side of life that so many sadly experience... one of my children was able to completely recover from a bad crystal meth habit, and is now happily married with two children, so if you want any info on the subject, just drop me a line...

love and hugs, maia
