Hi, all.
Realized I haven't introduced myself yet.
The real name is Eddie Patin. I've always been seriously into art, music, and writing, and in the last few months I've decided to take the craft seriously. The first thing I did was pick up a copy of "On Writing" by Stephen King. (Great book.) I'm an adult with no time to lose, so I'm moving full-steam-ahead into the profession. Been reading the "Writer's Market 2005," along with several 'how to get your book published' books.
I'll be publishing under my real name, and my writing is focused on dark fantasy and grim sci-fi with occasional forays into zombie horror, laden with flawed heroes and grief-stricken protagonists.
Returning to college to complete the final year of my english degree. Probably not necessary for fiction, though.
Lately, I've been reading Stephen King, Stephen Donaldson, and trying to get into Michael Moorcock. In the past I've read a smattering of Anne Rice and Michael Crichton. I've never been much into reading, but apparently, to write well one must read
a lot. So, I've been trying to crack a book whenever I can, but it's difficult and tenacious at times.
I'm also a serious musician, with a full album ready to go, just waiting for a professional recording and mastering. Once my band name (very unique) is protected, I'll let you all know about it.
How many people around here are experienced, published writers?
