misguided and alone
A little about me: I'm 35 yrs old, male, live in Italy, not married, so obviously Enlgish is not my first language. that makes me a little nervous to post anything. but i've done tougher things in my life than just posting something on a website.
more than just that, i want to meet people here...make friends, if you will. most of the people I know aren't into writing. So i also want to be able to read things from people who share my passions.
one obvious sideeffect of not having any close peers to read what i write is that my writing has probably veered off into dangerously bad directions. so i'm hoping that i can help others in whatever small way i can and receive help in turn.
does anyone have any recommendations on good authors to read on this site? I like all kinds of stuff, just not romances. that's not my scene.
~Rico

Well Rico, everyone agrees that my work is top-notch.
There are a ton of great writers on WF, and, let's be honest, a ton of mediocre writers. But that's what WF is for, going from mediocre to great.
Have fun in WF. One of the reasons I love it so much is because few of my friends are into writing too. I'm looking forward to your critiques and your stories/poetry. Hm, which is it? Stories, poetry, and what kind?

well, i like action stories, b/c they relate so well to my real life situations, as scary as that might sound
i read poetry, too. i like lots of kinds of poetry...except rhyming poetry. i know that sounds bigoted, but i have something against rhyming poetry.
Ilan, i will read your work and see if i agree with you

Welcome, Rico. There are so many talented members here and it is hard to single out just a few for you. Talia_Brie, Queasy Dillo, and Selorian72 are all quite good though and they just keep getting better, so I would keep an eye out for their posts if I were you.
Please feel free to contact a Mentor if you have any problems or questions. See you around.

Hello and welcome to the forums, Rico!
I've always wanted to visit Italy. It seems like such a beautiful place. There are many terrific writers here to read. Daniela is too kind to mention me , but she is right about Queasy and Talia. Just look around and I'm sure you'll find plenty of interesting work from many talented writers. I look forward to seeing some of your work. Hope you have fun and I'll see you around the fourms.

Welcome Rico! I know what you mean - I'm a non-native English speaker as well and at first I felt the same as you. But thank God people here were really kind and constructive in their feedback so I'm quite relaxed now
Also, first I was quite reluctant to comment on the stories posted here. It's like, who am I to criticize these people's writing, as long as my English is far worse than theirs? Well, the fact is: if you want to receive, you have to give. Feedback.
Enjoy it!
