New writer seeking a friendly community

Hi,

I've been writing recreationally for about four years and have been seeking other pursuers of our noble and rather revered craft. When I found this forum I think my overall feeling was that of elation for the pure and simple fact that I've been looking for a community to join for some time. A little bit about myself real quick, I've written and completed two short stories and am currently writing a book concerning the Vietnam War and a man's struggle to cope with what he's done. I hope that I can be a worthy addition to this community you've got going here.

Hi there.

Your project sounds interesting: I would be interested in hearing more about it. War tends to be a good background for exploring the human condition.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me or anyone else.

Hello and welcome to the forums, Ruiner999!

I think you'll be a welcomed addition to this great site. We enjoy getting new friends. Your book sounds good. I like stories dealing with Vietnam and all its after effects. I look forward to seeing you around the forum. If you ever need any help, feel free to contact a Mentor or a Moderator. We will be glad to help. Have fun!

Thanks for the warm reception from everyone so far. I'm rather glad that I decided to come here after having seen the veritable wealth of information that these forums have for getting published and things like tips on writing a book.

You will always find a couple of personalities that do not connect with yours.... But I found in general that this is a very active, enthusiastic, and pleasantly generous community.
Welcome!

hello!
im a new kid here too and i have to tell you that its great around here. everyones really helpful. its good that youre able to get honest feedback on your work as opposed to someone just saying 'oh wow, this is wonderful', they tell you what's wrong and how to fix it.

if you ever need any help, feel free to contact me. can;t guarantee i'll be at all helpful, but i can try.
