Oh boy! A writing forum!
Hi! Thanks for reading! Have you noticed how a lot of teenagers write poetry? Even if it isn't very serious, it's a wonderful way to get what you want to say into words. About a year ago, I got the urge to start writing, but poetry just wasn't my thing. So I tried prose. I thought I'd write memoir-like essays about things that have happened to me, and at one point I even imagined writing an entire book. We'll see how that one goes  . I don't have much written yet, but I'm sure I'll keep it up. Thanks again! This is so wonderful  |

Hello, and welcome to the forum!
I am one of teenagers who writes poetry, and even thought of writing a book of poems. Longer writing is certainly harder, but if you keep it up, its more satisfying when finished. Good luck with your works and I hope to read them sometime in the future.

To my regret, I have indeed noticed. I fear I too am a teenage poet: keep it to yourself, I'm trying to give the impression that I'm a balding 42 year old. Hello! When I was a teenager, the only time I wrote poetry was if my teachers forced me to. To me, poetry was hard and short stories were easy. Lately, though, writing fiction seems to be a little more difficult since I have started studying it seriously.
There I go rambling on again. I think I had better rein myself in before this gets too long.

Yeah - poetry is pot and beer and everybody tries it. In this case, though, the majority of people come out the other end as a clean adult with no creativity in their lives. I'm sick of being a teenager. I want to prove it's not a phase.

I think it's more difficult to become inspired to write a short story. It is for me anyhoo. And then just having more words on your hands when you come to edit makes it tougher as well. The result is of course infinitely more satisfying (unless it's a proper epic poem). In longer works I think it's difficult to maintain the attention to detail that a writer needs. |

Welcome to the forum. Writing essays like you do is what i used to do, poetry wasn't my thing either. There were people who said the way i wrote was poetic though, do you get that from people at all?

Memoire like essays are great... especially ones that are turned into novels. Try reading Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris. Great book
cant wait to read ur stuff!
