Crazy in Columbus

Hi there!

I just found this forum and I am delighted . More new people to read my stuff and re-write it (giggle).

Do I sound bitter? I don't mean to. I've had some friends read my work thus far and they (well some of them) insist on re-writing it before sending it back.

It has me worried -- darn them.

I am knee deep in a mystery that decided I had to write it. I am trapped in Chapter 6 relative to performance anxiety about what's gone before. Can you help me?

I live in Columbus, Ohio. I am active in Boxer Rescue. I work full time for the State.

Thanks for having me .

Hello and welcome to the forums Nathaniel!

Fiction is an appropiate spot, but for more critiques and advice, the Critique & Advice forum may be better from now on. There everyone knows exactly what you want. I hope you have fun and if you ever have any questions, feel free to ask me or one of my fellow Mentors.

Thanks for the welcome!

There are a couple of posts in the place you recommend that led me to think maybe it wasn't the spot.

Yes! I definitely want suggestions and input on the chapter I posted. I am dying to post Chapter 2 (giggle), but if the crowd is going to turn ugly I am going to keep it to myself.

I can only take so much on a single day.

Thanks again!

Hopefully the crowd won't turn ugly! I would give your first post of Chapter 1 a couple of days then post Chapter 2. That will give people time to read and comment on Chapter 1 and be anticipating Chapter 2. Also, it is better to post in moderation, both for the other members and for you. I know what you mean about only being able to take so much on a single day.

Nice intro. Hope you get some decent feedback on your work; I don't have the stamina for reviewing anything but poetry, I fear. Nonetheless, welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll get on just fine.

I went ahead and moved it to the A & C forum. Just so there is no question .

Thank you so much (again).

Welcome Nathaniel!

I rescued my dogs - a lhaso apso and a wippet/queensland healer mix. They provide me a LOT of material....

I publish an ezine and this reader of mine felt compelled to edit my articles and send them back to me. I finally told him, "Thank you but please don't do that anymore."

I don't understand why people feel compelled to do that - they are not walking around in YOUR body, they don't know YOUR motivation....

Yes, they can give suggestions, ideas, etc, but I prefer my gut to someone else's view. (Now that creates an odd image!)

Welcome, welcome, welcome.

With Passionate Gratitude,

Julie Jordan Scott

Thank you so much Julie!

You are exactly right! I would prefer that you tell me you hate my work/writing and don't send anymore thank you very much.

It is the worst kind of review.

I went ahead and posted Chapter 2. I wasn't going to do it. I wasn't, really. But then I decided I would. I can always delete it later (giggle).

BTW, I've been reading some of the reviews more carefully (not of my work, but of other's) and I am struck by the consistently positive tone of so many of them. Very nice.

.
