Hi from a mature 'writer' in Ireland !

Hi all !

This is me sticking my toe in the water right now...

I am 48... and have been a dormant writer all my life ... I think Everyone tells me I can write and I love writing.

I have written the first five chapters of my book (thriller/adventure/spy)... and am considering what to do now....

I don't associate myself with writers groups normally... because I am not atracted to the writers groups that meet and write different pieces every week... I have a drive to work on one big project at a time... though I know that some people will tell me that this is crazy

Anyway ... hi to everyone !

yah some writer groups are just weird. thats cause writing is not about itself. Its a mode of expression about SOMETHING. so you might run into a more mentally nutritional crowd when looking elsewhere where writing is just a subcatagory or specialty. if that makes any sense. actually thats really just a bunch o bullshit. See this is why i've been on a dry streak, everything is subjective, but when your writing you have to pretend its objective---- but how do you know some doofis (or a whole mass of idiots) isn't going to take you seriously and base some cult on what you wrote. Not proposing i write anything magnificent enough to spark a cult, just saying, as a writer, you risk being a leader, and i think people should be their own leaders. They always are whether they realize it or not.

Greetings, and welcome to the forum. It's a pleasure to meet you.

If you've written five chapters, you're already doing better than a lot of folk, so well done. I hope we'll be able to give you the encouragement to keep going to the end.

There's plenty to do here, people to meet, and ideas to inspire you, so dive in and enjoy yourself.

ps - if you haven't found them already, you're also most welcome to stop by the forum's sister sites, www.Lit.org, www.LitScene.com, www.WritersUnbound.com, and the others, all run by Chris (the same guy who runs this site). On their own, they're all excellent sites, but put together, they make a really fantastic resource.

Anyway, all the best, and I'll be looking forward to seeing you around the site.

Well ... you know... that makes sense ! But then again it's before I leave on the morning school run. When I get back it might have faded ...
