Hello fellow writers, etc....

Hi all...

I am new - duh, and happy to find support for something I love.

Currently, I'm working on a juvenile-aged book. It's finished except for the editing, editing, and more editing. Personally, I like this process the best, but I am chomping at the bit to begin a sequel. (first things first - right?)

I would like to know if it's compelling to readers, and would value your comments and suggestions. I'll check out which forum within the forum that would be suitable for my story and post there.

Thanks...
Penny

Hello Penny!

Allow me to offer you my warmest welcome to writingforums!

The best places on the forum for you to post the sort of work you described would probably be either the "critique and advice" section, or the "fiction" section.

Either way, there's plenty of people here who'll be willing to read your work and comment on it.

Also, don't forget to drop in on the forum's sister sites at www.Lit.org, www.WritersUnbound.com, and the others (see the links on the right). You'll meet a lot of the same folk on all of them. The forum is great on it's own... but combined with the other sites, they make a fantastic resource.

So welcome again, and I'll look forward to seeing you around the site.

Thanks...

Someone suggested I get involved in a writer's group, but I feel so unqualified as a beginner. However, this is a wonderful venue and I look forward to learning and eventually sharing.

My book has been in limbo since our computer died and I lost three chapters of edits. I stubbornly keep thinking the data can be recovered off the hard drive, but it is time for me to get a grip and start over on those chapters. It's a learning experience.

Thank you for the welcome.

Penny

Ignorance is the most useful asset for any learner. An open, empty mind.

Welcome to the forum!

welcome Penny.

it's a great idea to join a writers group, you get good feed back and learn lots of new stuff.

Thanks! So far I have been enjoying reading through the topics.

Where is the best place to post general questions? Not that I am ready for this, but I would like to know if an agent is necessary or can a writer submit directly to a publisher? I've read varying responses for a variety of reasons, so it's hard to know what is best.

I think you're best off asking that kind of thing in The Lounge or Writing Tips and Advice.
