Hello from me, hello...
Hi everyone,
I’ve been looking for an active writing forum for a long time, I’m glad I found this place. My name is Lorna, and I’m 23. I’m American, although I’ve lived in Scotland for 10 years. I’m a citizen of the world. If you added up all the years I’ve been at Uni(s), it would be enough to have a degree by now, but I don’t have one. Yet. After taking (another) year out this year, I plan to start the degree I should have started four years ago. One cluster of dreams I have is to get a Creative Writing degree, write books and open a bookstore, and have my novels made into successful but artistic films.
I’m never ‘not writing’. I started a journal when I was four and haven’t really stopped with the words.
I’m working on a novel or five, and indeed all my shorts seem to be novelistic in scope. I write realistic fiction with a modernist slant. I’m writing new work all the time and my goal this year is to send more work for publication and finish at least one (good) short a week. I’m looking to increase my workable output. I’m researching markets and magazines, anything to get my words out there, further than school magazines and newspapers.
I am participating in Nanowrimo this year (fourth time lucky) and plan to finish it this year! My first novel was started during my first attempt at Nano, I’m actually still working on that one, but other projects as well. My idea for this year centres on writing and an island. I can’t wait to start.
I joined here because I’m always looking to talk to other writers about writing.
Looking forward to getting to know people here!
L

Welcome to the forums. I'm sure you'll enjoy it here. These are a bunch of wonderful people (or at least they were when I left, I assume that it is still the case).
