Nice Digs!

Hey, everybody. My name is Stuart MacMillan. I am at the tender age of 21, lol. I've been writing for several years; started off with dumb little short stories when I was 9, I wrote my first poem at 10, I think, then my first song at 12. I've been in a couple bands since then as lead singer and I've played the guitar for about 6 years. I started rapping when I was 17 and it superhelped when it came to thinking of rhymes; before I'd sit there for a moment trying to think of the perfect rhyme but, after rapping for 5 years, they just flow out, like they're instantly there. So I would recommend the fine art of rapping to anyone who would be working on honing the craft of songwriting.

Anyway, I've played with several stories over the years. I'm in the middle of one right now that I've been working on for close to 5 years! lol. I'm rambling like I've been lost in the woods for the last ten years or something. Ha ha ha. To make a long story short, I never even thought of posting on a writing forum cuz the majority of "writers" I've met over the years were caught up in the romance surrounding writers or something. I have no clue! They thought I was cool or something cuz I wrote but they couldn't care less about the actual poems. So it was my impression that fellow "writers" would be jokes at best. But browsing this forum, I'm seeing some like-minded individuals who don't write to inspire or spark emotions in the reader or be cool but just write for the simple reason is that they want to.

All I have to offer is honesty. I will give you my honest opinion of what I personally think of the things you all post. I'll probably even tell ya what I would have done differently. And I've been writing for awhile so I probably have a lot of juicy tips. Hahaha. Anyways, I look forward to getting to know some of you.... Actually, I'll run right over and post something I wrote recently in the appropriate section and get on with reading yours. Sorry for the long post, would you rather just have an a/s/l? lol

Nope, a substantial introduction is much better. Gives me scope to say something more than "Welcome". Honesty is a happy offering; too many people leave only positive feedback (you'll quickly realise I'm not one of them). Hope you enjoy the forum and become a regular poster.

Ha ha, well, I've read some of your replies already and I must say I'm glad. I can't tell ya how many poems I got a friend to read or something and they just said "It's good" ... nothing but positive feedback... so hopefully in the future you'll hit me with some of your honesty. However brutal it may be would be appreciated; I'm not 8 yrs old.

Welcome I am also one to give honesty in my feedback, and I'll be sure to do so for any stories you post (sorry, I tend not to browse through the poetry forum that often...) Anyway, enjoy, and good luck.
