*raises hand uncertainly... *

Hi, everyone, I'm shaggy and I'm a writer. I'm here because I'm seeking the comfort and company of like-minded individuals who love to write. *mops sweat*

I've been writing (not fiction) for a living before I "retired". Now I'm writing (fiction) for fun. I love the experience of being able to create new characters... and then setting them loose in an environment of conflict and uncertainty and watching what they do to help themselves. I have written 3 original stories to date and I have self-published one of them as a book. I'm not looking to make any money out of my writing. I write for me, basically, the joy is in the writing. *nervous smile*

Hope to meet many fellow writers and share experiences!

Welcome to the forums. I'm sure you'll find plenty of people here who love to write. I hope to see some of your work, and to gain whatever writing wisdom I can from listening to you along with the others here (I haven't actually completed any stories, not even short ones, but I hope to publish a novel sometime after I finish school).

Hello and welcome. I am currently just writing for me and you all. Although I hope to publish something in the future, whenever I feel there's anything decent enough that I want other people to read it. Very long and convaluted intro but I'm Kat. I'd love to read some of your writing.

Go for it! Finishing a story seems to be a fairly common problem among writers. I think all you need is to persevere. Think of it this way: You owe it to your characters not to leave them in limbo. =)

The word association game is fun... but I keep getting these perverted thoughts. =)))

*turns red* All the 3 stories I have completed, including the self-published novel, are yaoi. That means, ah, slash stories. They involve relationships between guys. Though you can't really consider it gay fiction, because "yaoi" is not the equivalent of "gay". Yaoi is a genre of fiction that originates in Japan. It is created by female artists and writers for a female readership. Yaoi covers manga, novels, anime and drama CD. =)

Hm, maybe not then. I do tend to prefer stories that don't focus on relationships at all.

*scratches head*

What stories don't focus on relationships? Aren't most stories, at their core, about relationships?

*really puzzled*

My stories involve relationships between guys, but they are not love stories. I can't stand love stories myself.

I'm also puzzled. I think I should take up this conversation again when I've actually had some sleep. Maybe then I can understand

Ok, I'm somewhat awake now. Earlier, I had gotten the impression that relationships meant romantic relationships, or at least something other than mere friendly relationships. So yeah, all stories have to focus on some kind of relationship, but I though the term had a romantic context in this conversation. So, if you could explain exactly what you meant, then maybe I can understand
