a rambling idiot
My name is Daniela. I will be 22 years old in a few weeks. First off, I should tell you that I tend to ramble on. Forgive me if I do so here. In the future, I will try to be more concise and stay on topic.
Now that I have gotten that out of the way, let us get on with the introduction. I have been writing and telling stories ever since I was a small child. Even though I contemplated other career paths while growing up, my secret wish was to be a writer. Unfortunately, despite the encouragement of teachers, family, and friends, I could never work up the courage to pursue my dreams.
Over the years, the passion to write has grown so strong that I cannot ignore it any longer. The only solution was to finally give up my doubts and fears and set myself on the path of becoming a published writer. One of the steps I have taken is to enroll in a course that teaches how to write for children and teens. I hope that the work will be challenging. Another move I have made is to sign up for forums like these so I can communicate with other people who are struggling as I am. It always helps to share your frustrations with others.
I guess I should tell you some more basic stuff about myself now. I am an avid reader. We have a massive amount of devoured books in our home. Whenever my sisters come home with a new book, they now automatically turn it over to me. My siblings know that I will wind up taking it later anyway. They do not mind so much because I can usually finish the books in a few hours. As for the types of books that I read, I will literally read anything. I have read my parents’ textbooks from college many times.
Even though there are books from many different genres in my bookcase, I am more interested in writing speculative fiction and fantasy. I would prefer to write for the category called “Young Adult” in bookstores. There is such a broad range of books in there that are entertaining for both children and their parents. I firmly believe that if you want parents to read to their kids, you have to write something that they will enjoy too (the Harry Potter books, for example).
If you would like to find out what my hobbies are, look at my profile. I put a partial list there. I am interested in so many things that I am afraid this post would never end if I were to try typing them all.
In closing, I would like to say that I am here to learn. I am open to all advice, criticism, etc. As I settle in, please forgive my breaches of etiquette and any other ridiculous mistakes that I may make. I hope that you will find me a useful member of this forum and I would have you know that I value what each and everyone of you has to say.

Thank you for the warm welcome, Shawn. To tell you the truth, I feel like I cheated because I worked on my introduction for at least half an hour in Word before I posted it. I was very worried about starting on the right foot. I am usually a shy person and it is hard to jump in and start posting on a new forum. Once I get into the swing of things, you should be hearing more from me. This seems like a good place for me to seek advice on the assignments I will be doing when my course starts. Again, thank you for the welcome and for the kind words.

Warmest welcome to the site, Daniella. That was a fanstastic intro! Most people just post a few lines for their first post.
I'll look forward to seeing you around the forums
Dont' forget to also take a look over at the other sites that are run in conjunction with this forum - Lit.org, and so on. There's a set of links in the panel on the right. The sites are all worthy on their own, but put together they make a fantastic resource.

Thank you very much, Spudley. I noticed that other people made rather short introductions and I felt that they did not really give me a sense of whom they are. I hope everything I post here will be just as fantastic.

I recall mine was longer, actually. It was more of a commercial than an introduction as such though, which wasn't particularly tactful of me. Anyhoo, welcome to the forum. I wouldn't worry about rambling; it's one of the forums primary amusements. As for staying on topic, there are so many forums that you can pretty much post what the hell you like and be on topic, which is nice. I look forward to reading your posts or comments.

Thank you, Pawn. You are right, your post was longer than mine by sixty-three words (I obviously have too much time on my hands). By the way, I hope your magazine does well. It sounds like a really great concept.

Hello!
I just want you to know how it hit me that we almost have the same "situation"
I'm also an avid reader and an aspiring writer (though, it would take me hundred of years before I could write good), I want to pursue my writing skills (DO I HAVE ANY SKILLS IN THIS FIELD?! ) but, I'm kind of torn between my other dreams as well.
Looking forward to your posts! I'll be needing help and advices from you(if that's okay with you...?) I have a long way to run and learn. (ack! are my words right???!!! )
Please excuse my grammar and terms, you see, English is not my mother tongue...
See you around!

Hi, Ceridwen. I would never have guessed English was not your first language if you had not said something. Many of my fellow English speakers have more grammar problems than you do. I would be glad to give you any help that I can, but be aware that I am only just starting my first writing course besides what I took in high school and I still have a lot to learn myself. I look forward to reading your work.

Hello Hollyoake. Thank you for your reply. I have had loads of fun already and it has only been two days! By the way, you don't have to worry. I may be a little shy at times, but it takes a lot more than a friendly, outgoing person to scare me away.
I liked the introduction that you wrote. Since you like to be helpful, would you like to do one of my writing assignments for me?

Ah, good introduction hollyoake. I'm sure you've a sinister side somewhere mind... 170 posts and my intro is still right up next to this one, mwahaha. Wait, wait. Not such a good thing, eh? Maybe I need to get out more. Or at all.
