Obligatory "New Guy" Thread

Hello. I'm new to the boards, so I just thought I'd introduce myself and say "hi". I've been a writer for years now. My work is pretty eclectic... I'm into poetry, short fiction, rock criticism (I'm a musician and a music lover), and I've tried writing for stage and screen, too. I haven't had anything published formally, but I'm definitely optimistic.

These boards seem really laid-back and cool, which I definitely like. Glad to be here.

Hi, Gordon. Just out of curiosity, do most of the people here write professionally?

What kind of musician are you? Otherwise what instrument do you play?

I play guitar myself and Music is my thing. Mostly Rock'N'Roll (i.e. Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd and otehrs). I enjoy many other styles of music though!

Rage - I'm a HUGE Zeppelin fan! I love almost all music, but I sold my soul to rock and roll. I listen to classic rock, space rock, punk, metal... anything and everything that I can get into. I also listen to a lot of instrumental music.... I love Jeff Beck in particular. And classical. There's really nothing I hate, but I definitely have my favorites. In fact, I have far too many favorites to list here.

I play guitar, bass and some piano and keys. Guitar and bass tie as my first loves.... but I like to experiment a little with other instruments here and there. Nice to meet a fellow musician!

They are both fine instruments holly. The cow bell and the triangle were my favorites in middle-school.

Much Ado- GLad to see another Zeppelin fan. I should mention that I am learning how to play keyboard and I will learn how to play harminica. I have never tried bass, basically because I have never held a Bass Guitar, but I will someday. I am going to bring back Rock'N'Roll. I know how farfetched it may sound, but it is my dream because if I don't then I am not sure who will. If you read the "Dreams" thread in the "Lounge" then you will see I have posted what I am going to do in there. You might want to also.

[an:8ce4d24eec]I could have, said so much mor on this subject, but it would take up so much of my time and yours', reading it.[/an:8ce4d24eec]

Again, glad to have you aboard and enjoy!

And I would say that Rage has an obsession with quote boxes

Welcome to the forums, Much Ado! I must admit, I love your name. Let me warn you, you'll find lots of crazy (but nice) people on this forum (like me), so if you're one of those stodgy sane people, there's no way you'll stay stodgy or sane for long if you stay on here!

Anyway, just a reminder I've started giving whoever I greet . . . remember that whenever you post a piece of writing, try to read and critique another's writing . . . think of it as a sort of community service

Welcome.
I'm a huge rock fan, and performed for several years awhile back. Loved Zep. I did Goin' To California a lot, because you can do it on an acoustic. I'm more or less a professional writer, having about 90 books out recently. Publisher went bust (NOT MY FAULT! ... Well, let's say not ENTIRELY my fault), so I'm spending a lot of time publishing on my own through Lulu.
You'll like this group. Fun people, and all ages and viewpoints (I'm 65 and a rabid radical middle-of-the-roader politically.)
