Hello, everybody,

My name is Tim Byrnes. I'm a writer/musician originally from New York, but now living with my lovely wife, a dog and too many cats in the wilds of Colorado. I've been writing songs and stories for longer than I care to remember but have always been reluctant (read:afraid) to share them with the world until now.
My influences/favorites include Lester Bangs, Kurt Vonnegut Jr., Gore Vidal, Lou Reed, Randy Newman and Bugs Bunny. I intend to post chapters of the novel all us old guys have in them on this site. It's called "This Evening's Entertainment" and deals with rock and roll, Roman Catholicism, alcoholism, mental illness, the search for identity through art and criticism, celebrity, death, redemption, waste, love and regret. The first installment can currently be found in the "Episodic" category. I hope any and all readers will comment.
I've been reading and commenting on the work on this site and am pleasantly surprised at the flow of ideas and the "feel" of this community. I hope to be a member for a long time.

Okay, not really.

If you're afraid of sharing your writing as I was, I promise you that after reading just a few of the stories here and the critiques that follow, you won't be nervous at all! We have a whole thread on constructive criticism in our lounge, which I think shows how worried we are about being helpful, which, in turn, really tells you what this forum is all about.
