An introduction, and a question...

Hello, my name is Eric Stauffer. I am 17, and a senior at Emmaus High School. I have been into writing for a few years now, mainly short stories and screenplays. I have a question for the freelance writers in the community-- how realistic is it to become a full time writer, making 6 figures a year? In my opinion, that dream holds as much water as saying that I want to be in a famous band, or be a famous actor. Let me know.

First, welcome to the site!

As for making 6 figures, that depends. Are you willing to write what people tell you to write? Or do you only want to write what you want? There is a huge demand for Informatin, Technical and Non-Fiction, quite a bit of which is very boring to write. Most writers who make money have full time writing gigs, like writing for a magazine, newspaper or other publication as a staff writer, while they freelance the writing they do because they love writing.

That's how I see it, anyway.
