Privyet!

I enjoy people..writing and the various textures in life..

I decided to step outside of my perverbial ink cage...and venture into cyber space with fellow syllable fans.

Welcome then...was that Russian I saw in your greeting?

And be wary of CyberSpace. It bends for no man.

You might find one or two. I took about a year of Russian, and loved it. Now I learn Greek and remember the pain of loving a language.

When you ask what do I like about Classical Greek, do you mean do I prefer the entire lack of syntax over the numerous exceptions to the rules? *smile*
Greek is challenging, but enjoyable if you take pleasure in multi-case languages and the many joys of not being absolutely certain if what's being said is a double entendre, or perhaps in the triple.

I've never been to Russia, but at least hope to visit someday. I hear it's beautiful and different, and the people are an interesting bunch as well. I assume that's one of your hopes as well, to get to visit?

Careful if you plan to work there, especially in scientific fields. Many Russians are highly educated, but simply can't get the jobs they have the PHD's for, so to speak. It's rather sad that some brilliant people there are stuck because of the economy.

I have a basic grounding in French, and am trying to improve through translations or poems and songs. If you learn Spanish or French fist, then the other romance language come like soccer moms to an SUV sale.

I am, unfortunately, learning Classical greek as opposed to the greek that's spoken today.

As long as you love what you're doing, I'm sure you can pick up all those language.

Hello to you too!
I gather that is how you say hello in Russian? I took french in high school, didn't do very well. I do like latin, sometimes you figure out what something says just by looking at it.

Welcome --

I speak Spanish (poorly. It's been 20 years) from living in Latin America for some years (practico, si: gramatico - YECH!) and a few words of eight or nine languages from when I traveled. It comes in handy.

I loved Latin America. I had a place in Honduras, and would love to live there, but am tied to here for now. I might move to a Caribbean island if I don't die of old age first. I was born to be a beach bum.
