me!

hi.

it didn't take me long to join after seeing how helpful all of you are to each other with the constructive comments. my name is chris, i'm 22 and from manchester (northern england). i'd never considered poetry, or even read much until i came here, and then i found it to be a very pure and powerful form of writing. however, having just started, i could do with some help. with your assistance i expect to be a master poet within, oh, a couple more days. so, whatever you have to say, good or bad, i would love to read any comments and reactions you have about what i write. please feel free to view my two poems "pretty" and "rain" and tell me what you think. they just came on the site in the last couple of days. also two others will arrive soon ("dancing in the light" and "new york city"). i have tried to give my reactions to what i have read so far, but don't really know all that much yet. i am reading about it. it's nice to meet you all, and i like a lot of what you're doing here.

nb. if anyone knows how to reduce the memory size of a photo i'd love to know so i can put an avatar on. thanks.

Slow down! Slow down! It takes most of us at LEAST two weeks to become grand masters of our trade!

I'm not much of a poet (Once upon a midnight cautious/ I began to feeling nauseous/O'er a gob of gooey glop/that I had spilled upon the floor.) type of stuff. I wrote a lot of songs awhile ago, and I suppose that's poetry. A thing I thought was sorta crumby in one of my SF books was nominated for something I was too embarrassed to respond to.

Oh, well. Welcome, and I'll try to be fair and honest in my assessments of your attempts to usurp my lofty position as most often failed poet on the forum. It's good I have the other stuff to fall back on.
