Hello, I be newbie

And it was at that age...Poetry arrived
in search of me. I don't know, I don't know where
it came from, from winter or a river.
I don't know how or when,
no, they were not voices, they were not words, nor silence,
but from a street I was summoned,
from the branches of night,
abruptly from the others,
among violent fires
or returning alone,
there I was without a face
and it touched me.

from La poesía by Pablo Neruda (1904-73), translated by Alastair Reid.

Hey, I'm SD and I am new to this board. A friend of mine gave me this link, said I should come here to post poems and hone my writing. I have done some lurking on the poetry forum mainly, and it seems like a friendly place, so here I am, introducing myself.

Well, thank you S1 and S2.

S2, do your words imply we can make a formidable banana basket together?

I will drag you out of the *S*'s by adding my welcome. I often wonder why people lurk around before joining the throng. It must be shyness or some other quality I lack.

your avatar is .. oh .. never mind ..

What of my avatar?

Thank you, Penelope, for your warm welcome. I *am* shy, 'tis true, even in a throng I feel pointed at: "Must be mad!"

Hence the hiding behind CAPs, too.

I didn't post twice for emphasis just in case you thought I might have. Your avatar? I don't like it. I could go on and explain why but won't unless you want me to.

SD? Why do I get the "imaginary" feeling that we have met before, in another place in time, or (cyber)space?

Alagomeji,

I must say you've got me intrigued.
How am I going to concentrate on my poetry, now that I must play Sherlock and deduce you out

Was my avatar the giveaway?

SD.

Welcome SD,
I am glad to see you have announced your presence...sniffing around in the bushes like that is no good for the ego, and you are going to need lots of that, tempered with humility and a couple of drinks if you plan to make a career out of writing.

only kidding...I feel comfortable enough around here now to do that sort of stuff. I feel *liked* here and I hope you do to, or are we all going to have to give you a lick so you will feel at home?

Looking forward to reading you work!
