What's shakin', People?

Hi, all.
I post as 60'sbuff, not because I'm old and have no clothes, but I'm nostalgic for anything 60's, especially the music.
To me, life is a musical and, like good movies or plays, or sometimes even good TV shows (nearly an oxymoron ) life has its own soundtrack. Sometimes it is upbeat and happy, (Oh, Happy Day! or Dancin' in the Street ), sometimes it's sad, (Baby, Come Back! or Crying )
If you plan it right, you can help to change your mood or attitude ("Sad songs say so much" ), or whip yourself into a frenzy of confidence, (Ain't Nothin' Gonna' Break My Stride, or Nothin's Gonna' Stop Us Now )
I'm a 51 year old male from Michigan, USA who has been told by many people "You should be writing, just not to me.
I am a born-again Christian who found this site on a Google search of sites w/ comments about the Episcopal Church.
I like most Science Fiction, but of course my favs are from the 60's, Heinlien, Norton, Ellison, Asimov, Clarke, etc.
I also like political fiction, spy thrillers (LeCarre comes to mind), the John Ryan series of Tom Clancy and anything by David Baldacci.
In non fiction, I mostly like conservative authors and Christian authors such as R.C. Sproul. I like studying Creation v. Evolution, and anything that sheds light on recent history which contradicts the reporting of the mainstream media at the time.
I think I am pretty "normal". I am a Dad with 3 sons, 24, 14 and 11, all single last time I checked. I am divorced and looking. I have worked with young people for most of my professional life. I may be considered "uncool" and out of it by the younger group on here, but I listen well and I am respectful of all points of view and opinions. I never flame anyone, and I've never been kicked off a board.
Ask me anything, I will W/B!

Hia.

You're not the only Christian here - there's me for starters... and a few other folk who pop up occasionally.

Also, Lit.org (which is the sister site to this forum) has some Christian folk who've been posting some poetry recently.

I'm astounded that Google led you here while looking for stuff about the Episcopalian saga. I'd have thought there would be way too much chatter on the networks for our little discussion to show up on the radar!

But nonetheless, now that you're here you are very welcome. Please leave your coat and boots in the hall, and make your way to the lounge, where you can throw your tuppenceworth into any or all of our topics.

Look forward to seeing you around.

Hi 60's. You know what, I have 3 daughters. We should swap notes on who's harder to raise. I'll say my girls.

Welcome aboard.

Welcome.

I'm not the least religious, but respect anyone's beliefs. I enjoy Christian music, because it's upbeat, and so little music today is. I recorded a song called "I'll Never Pass This Way Again" back in the very early sixties, and had forgotten about it until a friend heard it on a Christian station.

I'm older than you, obviously. I was a rocker in the sixties, working with some of the groups who are still played today. I'm nostalgic for the music for different reasons.

Anyhow, I'm a stubborn old coot, but write a lot. If you like Asimov's style, you might like some of my stuff. I have a very set belief about politics and the solution to most of our problems. I despise most bureaucrats, and think democracy is a great idea. I's a pity no one ever got around to trying it, except for the very lowest possible common denominator bit, which AIN'T democracy.

In foreign relations, how about "YOU make the rules, but we'll ALL follow them." That way, if you don't want to get screwed, stop trying to screw everybody else.

Oh. well. Off the soapbox. Jump in, the water's fine.

I'm actually trying to find my religion, trying to find myself. My parents are big into Jesus and God and all of that stuff. I don't know what to do right now, so I write.

I'm a rebellious young teen, and you'll see most of my stuff is dark fiction, whimsical science fantasy, and a little poetry.

Welcome to the forums too. Hope you have fun.

I'm always suspicious when someone claims they're respectful and never have been kicked off any boards. Are you living in hope?

I remember how thrilled I was when my truck was searched at the US border. I felt like I had finally arrived in the land of the malcontents and anarchists!

Welcome to you!

Welcome to the forums

Well at least we have our age in common. I respect your beliefs, but I'm more of a follower of the old ways, pagan to the core and taoist in spirit.
May we live in harmony together.

Warm Regards,
Bob

Bob! You are far too polite to be a pagan! Must be those taoist fundamental foibles.

Bob's a pagan! And to think I thought that was actually Ray Park in his avatar, but maybe polite old Bob is much more sinister than we expected. Hmm I'll have to think on that.

All the silliness aside, welcome aboard 60sbuff. I hope you will find your time with us fruitful and enlightening. Or at least a good laugh. We do so strive for comedy.

Cheers,

Bart

Welcome to the forum, 60sbuff! I'm among the "young people" and don't find you uncool at all. I like watching most of the classic tv shows, so much better than the ones shown nowadays. And, I am a Christian too; though, some of my viewpoints may be different from what I should believe. I hope your stay is long and enjoyable. See you around the forum. Nyo~

Welcome, 60sBuff!

Is it possible to have been born in the wrong decade??
I really do belong to a time like that!
