Call me Ishmael.
Well, hey, it worked for Melville, why not for me, right?

And what better place for a comment like that than a writing forum?
My name is—you guessed it—Andrew, and I stumbled across this site because I was looking for a place I could discuss the various aspects of writing (language, usage, grammar, style, et cetera). When I typed “Writing Forums” into Google’s search window, you can understand how I ended up here.
I’ve already posted here a few times, but some of you knew that.
I’m twenty-three years old and I work in the Information Technology field as a technician, mostly doing things like repairing computers, assisting other employees with their computer problems (this usually consists of somebody calling me up and saying that they can’t log into their email, at which point I say “Is your CAPS LOCK turned on? If so, turn it off,” which usually results in them very sheepishly saying that “it works now”), and designing ways to make our network more efficient.
I went to school and got my Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, with a focus in vocal performance. While I was in college, I rekindled my high school hobby of working on the school newspaper, as a Copy Editor, proofreader, layout designer and general consolutant on style. By doing this, I really discovered how much I loved editing others’ works. Since I have a very instinctual knowledge and understanding of how the English language works, I find it very fun to be able to read something and, on first glance, know a lot about it. I like helping others to fully realize their potential as writers, whether it’s in a newspaper article or a short story or a fully-fledged novel.
So now that you know all about me, let me read your stuff! I love absorbing new material and offering advice. Unfortunately, I’m not much of an author, myself, or I’d be submitting my own material. I lack originality, though, which is why, I suppose, I’m much better at editing than I am at creating.
Ten bonus points if you can identify the movie that the subject of this post came from.
