Thread: I seem to have a bit of technophobia...

Hi, my name is Grace,
As much as writing is my favorite thing to do, second only to perhaps reading, I seem to have this fear of being completely drawn into the computer world. The side effect of this, poor knowledge on how to use websites like these. Besides that, I hope these forums can inspire me to type up my extensively handwritten stash of stories and poetry and and give me the opportunity to talk with others about writing. I am very interested in working with others to help create stories, and have others input on better constructing my own. I enjoy poetry, fantasy, period pieces, and stories about the modern life with a bit of humor thrown in. I hope that I will figure out this wild world of forum posts.

Oh my gosh! your post has corrupted my computer with many viruses! now they will spread and eventually take down the whole internet!

Microsoft word has been very helpful. The little paperclip meme is teaching me how to spell and think about puntuation. Sometimes I get it right. Is the computer evil? I don't think so despite this post number.

Im new here too Grace. I used to write on paper, but I get hand cramps! I can type wayyyy faster, hehe. So kudos to you for having so much on paper!

I happen to love word processors. The spell checking, the automatic fixing of contractions and capitalizing when you forget. It makes life so much easier I like to use my iPad for writing. I use an app called pages it's great. Nothing like laying in bed and writing your book on your tablet. As far as forums go, not much technicality to them. Just avoid flaming and post discussions in the correct sections and you will be fine. Even if you screw up and post in the wrong topic areas the mods will usually move your thread and let you know. No biggie. I'm new to this one too btw. I am a bit technical, I do micro-electronic automation programming, but writing is my true passion.

flaming? not quite sure I understand that one. Its so nice to see that people are into so many different things!

Flaming is basically just insulting people. You usually don't have to deal with that in mature sites but there are some forums out there where people can go rounds with each other.

Ah, I see, thanks for the tips! I will try to avoid that, it never really gets you anywhere anyways and defeats the point most, I hope, people joined this site for.
