    Introducing an Aussie...me!

Hello fellow writerly types, welcome to my introductory spiel. Does it feel like that to anyone else? Writing one of these every time I sign up somewhere, I get so bored hearing about me, I can't imagine how it sounds to everyone else! Its's not like I'm an international super-spy with crazy stories to entertain everyone. Actually, if I were a spy, I wouldn't be able to tell you, or it would compromise my cover. So maybe I am an international super-spy.

I am really a 25 year old stay at home mother who has too many personal ambitions and not enough hours in the day. One of these is to be a published author. I have written quite a few stories - some short, some not so short - as well as a non-fiction book or two and a heap of poetry. I find it difficult to make 'real-life' friends, as the town I live in promotes the superficial, and I am too genuine and old-fashioned in my idea of friendship. I'm also very approachable, relaxed and open-minded...although I don't like cats. I used to live with a cat (I don't like saying "had a cat", as he wasn't "my property" but we liked each other well enough). He would attack anything that moved - including my knee under the covers when I rolled over in my sleep, and I would awake to puncture wounds and yet another blood-stained load of laundry.

I have many interesting hobbies, but they are often perceived as conflicting. For example, I love cross-stitching, baking and of course writing. But I also love dancing, martial arts and camping. On the one hand I love video games, many different TV series, and I own a digital copy of every edition of National Geographic since its first in 1888. But on the other hand, I am intensely interested in herbs, crystals, astrology and feng shui. And that's not that half of it!

Anyway, I look forward to meeting new people on here, reading some of your work and eventually posting some of my own!

Still thinking of a cool signing out statement....

    Welcome to the forums, bedninja.

Hi there Bedninja, and welcome. I know about cats... but mine was (mostly) quite sweet, giving pussy kisses (nose to nose) to greet you.

    Thanks for the welcomes!
Nickie, I wish Charlie had been that nice! I was always greeted with a 'surprise' attack from behind the couch!

    Hey, welcome to the forum.
I'm from Australia too. What's the superficial town? Gold Coast? Haha.

There's nothing wrong with the Gold Coast. All you have to do is strip away the phoney façade, and underneath you find the real façade.

G'day bedninja86 and welcome. I see you've already met the delightful Like a Fox and the notorious xO. We have other Downunderlanders about, as well.

As for cats, one of the neighbourhood pit bulls that hangs about with me dearly loves cats. You wouldn't believe a dog as heavy as Rocky could accelerate the way he does if a cat passes in the street.
