    Hello to all from MistressM!

    Hello everyone!
I'm MistressM. Let me assure you I'm not a self conceited, egotistical person so as to call myself that - my dog is. Her name's Marcia, and she's the mistress of the household, or so she thinks. Thus MistressM.
    Anyway.
I love reading and writing. Ever since I was born, I've had my favorite book, a Chinese fable I believe is translated as "Monkey King", and apparently by the time I was 4 I was reading it myself. It's my oldest and shabbiest book, but I still love reading it. (I'm Chinese, by the way, if you're wondering what on earth I was doing reading a whole thick Chinese novel ) I actually only really got into writing in Year 3. I now love it, and now take any chance to enter writing competitions and do workshops at my school. I've won a few prizes, but there's still so much I need to improve upon in my work.
OK, enough waffle. I'm looking forward to taking an active part in this community!

Hey, MistressM. I have a rough collie who's also known as Miss Ally (among other names), so I'm with you on that part. Welcome to the community.

    Hi MistressM,

I was curious as to where you lived. I'm basically interested in people from all over the world, and their writing reflects on their culture. Anyone can have a different outlook on life by where they're from and where they live. A Chinese person living in the US, a Chinese person from a wealthy country like Singapore, or a Chinese person who grew up in Beijing, for example, would all have completely different perspectives but tied into the same cultural identity.

Since fair is fair, I live in Dallas, but I spent most of my life in Ohio. My dream would be to live abroad in different places and write about the people, but for now have to focus on earning a living, hoping to put enough money away to hopefully live that life someday. You can see some of the things I wrote in the poetry section.

I also have a dog, a rat terrier named Josie. She's very courteous and well-behaved, but when she was young, she probably chewed everything I owned made of leather, knocked down any plant I had, and even tore up a piece of carpet in protest just because I was too busy to take her out on her daily walk once.

Welcome to the forum and I hope you'll find it every bit as enjoyable as I have.

    Hello there!

I'm Mike! I'm from New Jersey. I've got a dog as well, but he's not very self-absorbed at all. He just a big mush-ball who constantly gives people love.

I'm new as you are. Hope we can both grow together and share lots of great work!

I lived in Nanjing up until I was 6, then moved to Australia and now live in the Sydney region, NSW Australia. I don't, in reality, remember much about living in China, since I've always grown up here. So my views and perspective are mostly aussie. Or so my family says...

Hey, you. Welcome to the forums. You gotta watch out for them ethnics in Sydney. They’ll have you eating dim sim, chicken noodle, pork ‘n black bean sauce, before you can say Mao Zedong, you’re not careful.

    Welcome to WF, MistressM.

    Hi MisstressM,
I too have a dog. He's part bedhog and part won'tretriever.

Finally, peace... My dog's already had her walk.
Thanks so much everyone for the warm welcome I've had!
