Hello everyone, my name is Ellis but I prefer to be called Canis while online. Canis is a name I've become accustomed to being addressed as while on a forum board, so Canis if you please. I'm 22 years old, though I often feel older. I love to write, when the muse strikes, but more importantly: I love to read. Ever since I first learned to read, my hands have rarely not held a book. I was told as a child that I would never read as well as my peers because I was what my teacher called "special." I was put in Special Education classes because I was unable to say my alphabet in the second grade. "At least two years," was the response given to my mother when she asked how long it would be before I was "on par" with others my age. Six weeks later, my reading comprehension/proficiency was retested. In the second grade, I was reading on a seventh grade level. In six weeks, I had gone from being unable to recite my alphabet to besting children 5 years older than me in reading. Since then, I have excelled academically. Anyway, I'm starting to ramble, so I'll finish up.
In closing I want to say, thank you Mrs. Hodges, you were and still remain the greatest teacher I have ever had. I would not be able to even type these words if not for you. For that, I am eternally grateful.
