    The Artdecovampire, Horror Writer.

    Hi,

I am a teacher and have been for many years. I was once a technical illustrator but lost the will to create when I was given a computer. I once was a relatively successful poet, now I write horror stories as a hobby. I am half way through my first novel.

Hi ADV, and welcome to WF.
“The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn, the bird waits in the egg, and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities.” ~ James Allen

"Use what talents you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best." ~ Henry Van Dyke

welcome! :] What subject do you teach? And what prompted you to change from poetry to horror fiction?

Forget your personal tragedy. We are all bitched from the start and you especially have to be hurt like hell before you can write seriously. But when you get the damned hurt, use it-don't cheat with it."

I teach technology, but I studied Fine Art. I was always creative and the poetry stemmed from night school. I won a few competitions, which proved I could write well enough for people to want to read me. I like the formality of poetry but its a restrictive medium in the fact it restricts opportunity for narrative. So now I intend to write prose instead. Its much easier to do, but harder to ensure quality. Bad poetry sticks out like a sore thumb, bad prose can sneak past for a while.
