    Greetings, fellow thinkers!

Just stumbled across this site while looking for writing forums, because I would both like to post my own work for feedback and return the favor for other writers. If you're not writing with the purpose of getting better and pleasing your audience, it might not be the best career choice.

That said...I am a 30 year old sports journalist with a bend towards wanting to write more non-sports. I do write a lot of stories and essays, but most of my writing is sports columns, so the free expression of my uncensored blog is important.

My favorite writer is Kurt Vonnegut. By far. I'd be lying if I said I didn't at least seek to emulate him a little, but I also don't think there's anything wrong with it. If all kids could idolize Jordan while growing up, why couldn't *I* idolize one of the most hilarious yarn tellers ever?

I guess that sums things up bout as well as I can in three brief paragraphs.

Hi Nene. Writing is not a career choice for me, just a hobby. Welcome to the site!

Are you implying that I think? Hmph.

Welcome! I also enjoy Vonnegut (though he's definitely not my FAVORITE favorite author).

@Candid Petunia - I think it always starts as a hobby, but then again, I sketch and paint sometimes as pure hobby and have never sought to progress past that either, so maybe not.

Olson - I'm not sure how anyone could read Vonnegut without coming to the conclusion he is the greatest American writer ever (sorry, Twain, Hemmingway, and Faulkner, better luck next life!).

Nickie - Thanks Glad to be here.
