    Hello There!!

Hello everybody! Just thought I should share a little about my self and what I hope to accomplish on this forum. My name is Patrick. I am a 18 year male who is a Senior in High School, currently living in Madison, Wisconsin. I'm a fairly athletic young adult, and I'd like to think that I'm fairly intelligent and mature for my age. But that is not necessarily for me to decide is it. I pride my self on being an individual and often find myself forming very strong opinions and interesting ideas. Recently I have rediscovered my love for reading after being lost because of reading countless tedious textbooks and required novels being forced upon you in high school. However, one of the biggest reasons would probably be my lack of knowledge for good books.

What brought me to this forum however is a sudden urge to write. I don't know where this urge came from or what inspired it, but I definitely feel that I should act upon this urge and see where it takes me. Why did I search out this forum in order to act upon this sudden inspiration you might ask? Well the answer is fairly simple. One of the main ways I learn is through others telling me what I can improve on and what I am doing right. I want to know what it takes to become a accomplished and fluent writer, so I can inspire people through my imaginative thoughts and ideas. What can I write about? What should I write about? What do you want to read about?

My goals are direct and hopefully not as far off as I perceive them to be. I want to seek out a higher skill of writing. I need to get better at grammar, which hopefully many of you can help with. I also need to get need to learn how to place my thousands of ideas in my head into something that people like you would enjoy reading. The only way I see this happening is through practice and time, along with willing readers.

Thank you for taking the time to reading about my hopefully successful new chapter in life. I hope that coming to this forum will be as helpful as I think it can be.

P.S. Can someone please tell me how to edit my profile. Whenever I go to settings and "edit profile" it tells me that I lack the privileges necessary to perform this action. If anyone would PM me, you would be most helpful. Thank You! Could someone also tell me how to indent only the first line of my paragraphs. My tab button seems to not work on this site for some reason and the indention option given to me by the site seems to indent my entire paragraph. Thanks once again!

    Welcome to WF.

Because we've been plagued by spammers we've been forced to place certain restrictions on new members. You'll need to show yourself active on the forums by making at least ten posts before you can start a thread on one of the creative boards or edit your profile. It's a good idea to use your initial posts to offer comments on the work of others. This encourages others to offer feedback when you're able to post your own work.

Hi, seriously (meant with and without the coma, if you catch my drift), I'm a senior in high school and I live in Wisconsin as well, though I'm 2 hours or so north of there. You'll love it here. And don't worry, those 10 posts come by quickly. This is like my third day on these forums .

EDIT: I too don't really like the novels required in school. I've never read one that I would continue to read, most I would never pick up. The problem for me is, I dislike historical fiction and that's what you're always required to read!

What's the fun in being a circle among other circles? I want to be a square.

As an aspiring writer, the last part is not anything you should be concerned about.
English words are like prisms. Empty, nothing inside, and still they make rainbows.

That is very true. I just like to know what people are interested in.

    Welcome to the forums, Patrick.
