    Hello from New Hampshire!

My name is Nancy and I've been writing for over 40 years. I started writing poetry in high school, switched over to writing for children when mine were little and now continue to write fiction.

I'm working on my first novel and want to write it to the end, which is why I'm here. I'm still somewhat of a loner and writing is solitary and I hope to meet writers who will not let me give up and maybe make some friends along the way.

What's wrong with Old Hampshire, Jane Austen country? It is still between Dorset and West Sussex, between Hardy and Hillaire Belloc...

Welcome to WF, hope you have a good time.

    Hi, Nancy,

You sound like you might just be my kind of writer.

    Welcome Nancy.

You may not give up. Or you will be chained in the dungeon till you finish. Where in NH? I'm from the Lowell MA area.

    Have fun here!

Merely a knee-jerk reaction. First, you have a few years of both life’s experiences and writing under your belt, and second, given the preceding, you are unlikely to be writing about elves and dragons and magic swords.

ah, yes. Well, elves have always made me feel uneasy and although I would love to ride on a dragon or at least find some magical Pixie Dust, my writing leans more toward the unraveling of adults brought on by the unintended doings of teenagers.

I have however started a fantasy novel about a bored, odd, teenage girl on summer vacation before entering high school, who discovers herself in a kingdom after playing with a knot hole in a tree house. The kingdom is literal, you must say what you mean, there are forbidden zones, death lines, oddness and evenness, and a balance of good and evil. I think more about this one than work on it, but do have it outlined. I call it my escape novel.

    Welcome to the forums, Nancy.
“The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn, the bird waits in the egg, and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities.” ~ James Allen
