Greetings, everyone! My name is Jesse (Call me Blankard) and I'm attempting to join this here writing forum as per the wise suggestion of someone I know. I'm an avid writer and reader, but forums are something somewhat new to me. Participating in them, that is. So, bear with me if you please
So, I'm a 25 year old guy who's in the midst of re-entering college and finding his place in the world, and I've been writing since early high school. I've shared my work with a select few (honest) people I've known, so it isn't like, one of those situations where it's just me and my close friends who think what and how I write is good. I'm confident, but I'm not overly confident, that what I have is publishable.
Should it interest anyone, here's an overview of my project.
[Genre: Essentially High-Fantasy with a few elements of the Steampunk setting, depending on the area. It follows the adventure of a character who travels between multiple worlds that are linked together though ancient Rift Gates. Four worlds each with their own languages, countries, cultures and religions. There are several large-scale wars and intertwining plot lines; major themes include amnesia, free will, the nature of good and evil, religious/racial oppression ... you know, "High Fantasy." But I also love detailing relationships between characters as well as describing the diversity and multitude of perspectives as they progress {or don't (!)} through the story.] [Book 1 of 7, at 53,000 words, is a ready manuscript.]
The biggest trouble is just figuring out and finding out how. So, among the multitude of reasons why I'd like to get in touch with more writers for advice and feedback and bouncing ideas all that, I hope to find some information that'd be more useful than googling up an "e-how" on self-publishing.
So that's basically why I'm here, and I'll try to keep active on these forums in trying to help others whenever possible. Take care, everyone!
