    Hi from SoCal

    I cheated...

I already posted a thread and replied to another one, but I still want to introduce myself. I am a mother of two, struggling to balance life and writing a novel at the same time. I spend about 6 hours a day writing, though definitely not all at once. Thirty minutes here, five minutes there, an hour there.

I am a great fan of fiction, all forms of it. The first series I actually fell in love with was Clan of the Cave Bear, Jean Auel. I haven't been able to read a good book in a while, since I have devoted myself to my own work and don't want to get too involved with someone else's writing. (Isn't else's a word? Computer doesn't think so).

That's about all the fascinating stuff I have to offer! Will post my first chapter when I get the courage

Hi there, and welcome to WF.
“The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn, the bird waits in the egg, and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities.” ~ James Allen

"Use what talents you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best." ~ Henry Van Dyke

    No courage needed to post.
All critiques come with a money-back guarantee, and free shipping. But only if you call within the next ten minutes.

I miss parts of So-Cal. Sand that is warm. Water that doesn't induce hypothermia. The ability to expose skin without the threat of frostbite.
Seriously, I miss body surfing. Even the salty sand I had to spit out after a face-plant was fun.

Anyhoo, welcome. If you wanna talk hard sci-fi, bend my ear anytime. Meanwhile, enjoy some sun on your shoulders between writing sessions. Vitamin D helps you to think clearer. Possibly. I dunno. I'm deficient of it, myself.
    What was I saying?

I live in a valley, and lately it has been chilly and raining. I was under the assumption all of California was sunny, always, every day. I have never been accused of using common sense, some days I realize I don't have any at all.

I moved from Albuquerque to Southern Cal, and I have been through Lovington a few times Cyyto, as well as Artesia, Roswell, Dexter... lived in Hagerman for a few years too. Do you know where that is Cyyto?

Hi there and welcome! I've only just moved away from SoCal, myself. I also lived in a valley (San Joaquin) and I don't miss the smog at all. But I do like the weather there most of the time.

Hi there, and welcome to the forums. If you really want to be a good writer, you need to read too. I've read thousands of books (still do) and I know these have made me a better writer.
