    Greetings from Canada

    Hello All,

Well, I'm new here and wish to introduce myself. In fact, this is a first for me as I have never joined a site like this before. Writing is very new to me also. While I have enjoyed writing (mostly very long letters to family overseas) over the years, I have never actually written anything before. That was until about six months ago. One of my passions is gardening and I have had this dream for a little while to be able to write a gardening column. So write one I did. It took me about a year to muster up the courage to submit it but I eventually did. My local newspaper loved it and I've been doing it regularly ever since. I still find it a thrill to open up the newspaper and see me and my writing there.

My writing has progressed as I write about local places I've visited and experiences that I've had. I send them along to my local newspaper and they are happy to print them all! I had no idea how writing would affect me but now I feel that I am hooked - and I can't stop writing. I tend to write about what I know and what I'm passionate about. So far, it's just been articles that I have written and I don't even know how my writing will progress. All I know is that the more I write, the more I want to write.

Well, I will stop now otherwise this will get very long, and I just wanted to say hi.

Welcome to WF, Alexa. Nice to hear about your column. Hope you enjoy your time here.

Hi, Gardening Girl, and welcome to the forums. Congratulations on the success of your column. I trust you'll have a positive experience here on WF, and good luck with wherever you wish to go with your writing.

    Hi Bilston Blue,

Thanks for your comments. I was thrilled with the success of my column even if it is only in a small local newspaper. But still it's a start. I feel as if I am on a steep learning curve as I begin to explore all that the writing world has to offer. I do hope this site is useful but on my initial look, it looked good.

    (I'm a British native myself).

    Hi Nickie,

Thanks for your welcome. Thanks too for the link to your website. I've had an initial look and it looks facsinating. I look foward to spending more time there. How wonderful that you are a published author - several times over.

Thanks Gumby. I'm chuffed to bits about the column. It's good to be here although yesterday I had some trouble logging on.

I'm trying to figure out where PEC is in Canada. Welcome anyway.

Thank you for the welcome Offeiriad. PEC is an acronym for Prince Edward County, which is situated in south eastern Ontario. It is an island that juts into Lake Ontario. It's an absolutely gorgeous place to live.
