Thread: Hi, I'm SixPence

Hi, I'm SixPence. Well, SixPence is not really my name, but more of a nickname I have bestowed upon myself. I always wear a sixpence as a headpiece, so by request, my friends now just call me SixPence. I'm 23 years old and study computer science in Norway. I love writing, but I don't feel I'm very good at it. I have all these great stories and ideas swarming in my head like a bunch of very busy bees, and I'm just aching to get them on paper. But whenever I sit down to actually formalize my thoughts on paper, they all suddenly go quiet, and I just can't seem to get it right. I keep jattin' down the facts for the stories, but the words to tell it is so much harder to find.

That's why I've been searching for a community where I can evolve, share and get feedback(In the order 2,3,1) for some time, and then I stumbled across this site. I've never wanted to take any courses on writing or such, as self-development is a key to my life. But at the same time I wont learn unless I have a group of people around me to share with.

I'm not planning to write any novels in my introduction post, so I guess that's about it for me. Short and simple, looking forward to getting to know you guys, and looking forward to improving my writing skills.

Oh I think you'll improve relatively quickly. You can actually see how people's writing evolves over time just from the way they compose their comments. I spelled definitely "definately" all my life -- til I joined the forum that is. I've never made the mistake since. That's only a small improvement, but all of those little tweaks amount to a substantial difference in your writing.

Ironic, I spelled the word definately definitely all my life, until I joined an online community and was convinced by the amount of people spelling it definately that I was spelling it wrong. However, now I know I spelled it right thanks to you, so from now on I'm back to definitely
