Thread: Hello

Hello Everyone...

I'm a writer and aspiring author living in Western New York. I have a background in journalism and as a press secretary and have published everything from trade magazine articles to short stories to puzzles. Publishing of my first novel, though I've written five manuscripts, has been elusive and it is my life goal. I am working on #6 and will take any advice I can get on publishing.

A heartwarming anecdote: My father recently passed away. He was a photographer and was a member of a number of photography forums. When he passed, I posted the news in one of his forums. I could not believe the outpouring of love and support that came as a result of my post - people saying how much he'd helped them with their photography, people saying that he'd become one of their best friends and people saying he was just a great guy to talk to. It was fantastic, the number of lives he touched from his living room sofa. It inspired me to get more involved with the on-line community for my passion, writing, so here I am.

I look forward to "meeting" all of you in the coming months, getting some advice, sharing some stories, and taking my writing to the next level.
