Hello from Borneo!

Hi,

I am new to all this but have been writing in some form or other since I managed to work out what the ABCs were for.

Not to confuse that with writing creatively... mostly it was shopping lists, letters to traffic policemen, badly transcribed sick notes with my mother's signature, reams of dull technical geek-speak for my masters, that sort of thing.

I would like to change all that and write creatively for fun and profit! Well, for fun at least.

I have trouble with punctuation - too much, inappropriately applied! As such I think I will adopt the Cormac McCarthy school of no punctuation at all. Unless I get some help, that is.

It's on the equator so it's hot and humid. The days are the same length all year long - sun up at 5.30, sun down around 6. I do miss long evenings

Where we live is coastal plain - flat with lots of rivers and streams, although they are channeled to cope with the rain - it is double-monsoon country here

That being said, the rain doesn't feel oppressive - it is still hot and after it has rained it doesn't take long to dry out.

As you venture away from this area it becomes hilly then mountainous. Lots of jungle and river valleys - if you drive anywhere other than the coastal roads you spend all your time climbing and descending.

But it's a wonderful place to live - we have a troupe of monkeys I have a battle of wits with over the rights to MY banana and mango trees. I can grow orchids and palm trees just by chucking them in a pot and sticking them outside. I have a huge mango tree outside my kitchen window that is home to about six varieties of birds. And the people are warm and friendly and funny. We are slowly working our way round this huge island and every time we go farther afield we find surprising new discoveries and little off-the-beaten-track places to visit.

It isn't perfect, but we like it and intend being here for some years to come.
I love it.

hi that sounds amasing would be good to see some pics if you could sometime there is a section here where you can post pictures and arts ...It does sound hottern then where I am in London

Zootalaws sounds like zut alors in French to me...haha

haha...thank you very much..very appreciated..it would be good to see something different just to compare and get some inspirations for writing..
