    FranOnTheEdge Arrives

Hi, This is me, and this is my first post here.
I have been writing for some years now, and I've written various things in various genres, I have:

1 detective novel finished, (needs polishing)
    1 detective short story and
2 sci-fi short stories finished, (all need polishing, some may need total re-writes)
    I also have
1 fantasy story part written, it might be half way through, it might be only a third of the way through, depends on how much more I end up wanting to say, but it's looking rather epic so far.

I also have many more part begun stories, detective, sci-fi and fantasy, some have outlines, some are mere ideas, most have characters, and are part written, some are merely what if ideas.
I had a lot of stuff stolen a few years ago, including all my current work, I've also been at university earning a degree, now that I've completed that, I was lucky enough to find older copies of my writing, which I have recently been working on:

I've added my rewrite of one of the sci-fi shorts to the rediscovered earlier original, and I've just today had a (possibly brilliant!) idea for changing one of my other older unfinished stories original location and thus the 2nd protag's origin - plus some other ideas for new background.
I think I must have matured a little over the years since looking now at this re-discovered work, I find some of it a little childish, and missing indepth detail - which I'm sure I can fix.... or I may abandon some of the oldest ones, and try for something new.

    That would be exciting!

My degree is in Animation for which I wrote various things, including a rather enjoyable dissertation, after graduating I continued with an idea I had at the end of the degree which I am still adding to and perfecting. I am also modelling characters and scenery for that.

I hope to improve my writing with the help of other writers and critiquers, while I'm here.

    What else should I say???

Um, I love reading Terry Pratchett, D.L. Sayers, G.K. Chesterton, James Anderson (particularly for his Inspector Wilkins books) Robin McKinley, Dell Shannon, Andre Norton, Carola Dunn, Asimov, A.C. Clarke, the list is huge....

My ambition is to be a published author, preferably of novels but a short story would be a start.

    Hi Fran

Sounds like you've been busy. Welcome to WF. Hope you find something on here that is of help to you. Happy writing.
The sand of the desert is sodden red, -
Red with the wreck of a square that broke; -
The Gatling's jammed and the colonel dead,
And the regiment blind with dust and smoke.
The river of death has brimmed his banks,
And England's far, and Honour a name,
But the voice of schoolboy rallies the ranks,
"Play up! play up! and play the game!"

    Hi Fran. Welcome to WF.
“The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn, the bird waits in the egg, and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities.” ~ James Allen

Hi Fran. Welome. The information you provided made me think of one of my favorite types of movie and literary genres, graphic novels. Science fiction is a big love of mine as well. It the one genre that has few boundaries and make you imagine what could be, if only. I look forward to reading your posts.
