    Hello everyone

I go by the pen name Revekka. I am a general arts student with an interest in short stories and poetry. My style is still experimental at the moment as I don't think I will be sticking to a particular genre. I do have a tendency to be particularly "wordy" as I have been called, as being verbose is a habit of mine. I've been writing for quite a while now but it was only last year that I wrote my first "formal" short story, a dystopian science fiction. I currently have 12 short stories completed so far, but I have a few on hold that I should be getting to work on soon. I just got a new computer and I just finished transferring all the files. I don't even have Microsoft Word installed yet.

    Peace,

    Revekka

Hi Revekka - welcome to WF! Who needs Word? (Although I use it all the time...) I look forward to seeing some of your poetry/stories on the site.

Hello Revekka. Welcome to the forums.

    Revekka,

I'd say welcome to the writing forums, but you've been here longer than I have, so perhaps it should be, hello, I'm new too.
I'm not sure I have a style as such, I just like writing stories, Oh by style did you mean genre? I've always thought of a style as one thing and genre as something much broader... or is it a style that's broader??? I'm not sure, since a writing style can surely span across more than one genre. Anyway, never mind that, what I wanted to ask you was about this dystopian short story of yours.

I've been interested in dystopian worlds since doing my dissertation at Uni, well since the whole degree at Uni actually, I just found it utterly fascinating, from The Cabinet of Dr Caligari,(R. Weine) and Fritz Lang's Metropolis, Huxley's Brave New World, William Gibson's Neuromancer, and to Ridley Scot's Blade Runner and beyoned.

So I'm intrigued to know about your reasons for writing about a dystopian science fiction idea, and your courage in attempting such a huge task, could you tell me a little about it? And how on earth did you manage to do justice to a whole dystopian world in a short story? It all sounds utterly fascinating.

    Fran

My reasons for doing a dystopian short story is because of the way the ideas of that story fitted together. I will be posting that one up soon.

    Peace,
