    New and Hopeful

Hey, everyone. I'm Aletta, age 23. I call myself a writer and sooner rather than later plan to make that official by having my work published. I plan to start out through self publishing through Kindle and the like, mostly to get my foot in the door and earn credits while building an audience and earning money. We'll see where I go from there. I might decide that self publishing is more lucrative.

I have many interests and hobbies, only some of which include: researching the occult, philosophizing, taking photographs of nature, making photomanipulation as art, and of course writing away until my fingers and eyes hurt. I'm always looking for new things to do and new experiences, within reason.

I like the idea of concepts like freedom, love, dreams, etc. I write about those concepts and how sometimes they can end in tragedy if taken too far in the wrong way.

I'm looking for friends and networking associates. I'm shy but I do care about the people I come to know.

I hope you're all doing well and have a good day or whatever time it is when you read this.

Hello Aletta. It must be great to be young and fresh. Not like me. Been round the block and been on the blocks as well. But still here. I write supernatural romances, hopefully with a difference. If I read yours you can read mine. Welcome from Mockingbird in wet UK.

    Hey Al!

It has been awhile since I could claim the age of 23. Like Mockingbird, I am familiar with going around the block! I am currently working on my fourth life.

I look forward to reading your writing!

Thanks for the warm welcomes, everyone! I could definitely use some advice from people who have "gone around the block" as you said, Mockingbird and Jodi. I've been researching the industry and unfortunately chickening out for so long (I've been seriously writing since I turned 18 or so, and writing as a hobby before that). I could use some advice and a firm kick in the pants. I'm still wondering if I should try to send off my work to traditional publishers and look for an agent before I go the Kindle Self-Publishing route. It just seems somehow more professional and well... traditional. What do you think?

Hi Aletta, do go the traditional route first if you can, but self publishing worked for John Grisham amongst many others.
