Thread: Hello internet.

Hey, my name is Bruno, I'm 18 years old, from London, and have only recently aspired to become a writer. I started writing my first Novel in May of this year, and being my first, thought it the perfect time to join a community of fellow writers to help mould me into a better one.

I left school when I was 16 (Score) because it was getting too much, and I just started to get totally obsessed with books, mainly by Stephen King and Clive Barker, the two biggest inspirations on my humble pilgrimage so far.

Some of my favourite movies include The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, No Country for Old Men, Memento, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Spirited Away... I adore music by Beethoven, Yoko Shimomura, David Bowie, Smashing Pumpkins, Muse, stuff like that.

Most of that was unnecessary now I look at it, but so is life really. Thanks a lot for having me, I really look forward to writing on the forums(!)

It's exciting to see a budding new writer. You probably haven't even acquired the snobbery and general pompous attitude attributed to most writers.
You should buy a pack of cigarettes, hook some coffee up to your veins, get a beret and a turtleneck... stat.
Then act like you know more than everyone else. And you'll start to fit in.


Oh, please don't do any of that. Haha.


I joined here not long after I started writing - I found it a really good place to find my feet, I hope you find likewise. And really, everyone around here is pretty fun. Well. Not everyone, but some of us pick up the slack for them.

So have a look around, ask questions, read some writing. Whatever. (We do a compeition here, I just put one up for a 500 word short story about "A Blind Date with the Devil." - You might have fun entering that maybe?)

I have all of those things except the pomposity, and mum says I shouldn't smoke. She smokes near me though.

I'm afraid my blind date with the devil is entirely non-fictional, is that allowed or is genuine Satanic involvement not applicable? On second thought I'd probably just write "No stop it!" 167 times, because that's all it was really.

Well, you probably have a little bit of pomposity bred into ya, because you're English. Even if it's just the accent.

Oh and all fiction is just non fiction disguised, if you ask me. You don't have to tell us what's true and what's false - that's the best bit.
I can relate, to your date. Haha. And people ask me why I won't leave my house.

I'm about as well spoken as Derek Trotter, of Italian descent, my skin makes the Moon look like it's got fake tan on and I like Beethoven... It's a bloody recipe for disaster lol. I'd much rather be from Oz believe me
