    Hello from Blueblade

Hi everyone! I have wanted to write since I was very young, but distraction, procrastination, and lack of direction have kept me from doing so until now. I just finished a short online writing class, and I've decided to become a published and critically acclaimed writer. There's no turning back now. I quit my job and bills are piling up, so I have to move fast!

In all seriousness, I do desire to write for a living, but I know I need a lot of practice, a lot of guidance, and a lot of motivation. I am hoping I can get some of that here. I think I have a pretty good eye for good writing, so I hope to help others when I can as well. That being said, you may be hearing from me often...bye for now!

The class was definitely helpful. It wasn't what I expected; it dealt with confidence and self awareness quite a bit, but also covered some more technical aspects. The best thing I took away from it was to allow myself to write poorly...just get your ideas on paper, and revise and edit later. Previously, I never seemed to be able to get far with my writing because I felt that I had to get each paragraph perfect before I moved on. This new freedom to just get it all out has already helped me tremendously, and I'm excited to pump out some stories!

That's where I get frustrated...I work so hard to get it perfect that I can't move on...I finally finished my book but when I go back to edit..it starts all over again...it never ends.

In one sense I'm lucky - I love to edit and revise, more than writing an initial draft. I love to take something in shambles and clean and polish it. I just need to learn to hold off for a while!

    Greetings, Blueblade!

If you're looking from help from classes, you might be surprised at how many writing classes there are in the area that are either free or extremely cheap (where I am it's £5 a year). I decided to have a look and found 7 in my immediate area, one of which I am a part of now (in my writing group, you just read out a poem/story monthly and get a critique face-to-face. It really motivates me to write more).

Other than that, this is a brilliant, welcoming community to be a part of, and I'm sure you'll love it here!
